1 lb butter
2 cups white sugar
1 cup chopped almonds, skin and all
8 oz semi-sweet chocolate
1/3 cup ground almonds

Grease a cookie sheet. Boil the butter and sugar to 310 degrees (hard crack) on the candy thermometer, stirring all the time. Fold in the chopped almonds and pour onto the greased cookie sheet and cool.

Melt the semi-sweet chocolate. Wipe the excess butter off the candy. Pour on the melted chocolate and spread evenly. Sprinkle with ground almonds all over the top. Allow to set and cool completely, then break into pieces.
